How to recognize a servant leader
A servant leader is first and foremost committed to the Lord Jesus Christ (Col 1:28). He has personally received His vision from God and he is committed to it and leading his followers in finding fulfillment through it as well. He is motivated by agape love for his followers. He does not seek self-glory or special personal privileges. His prior concern is for what is best for his followers towards fulfilling the vision and purpose. He is himself fulfilled through the personal development and maturing of his followers (3 John 4). The servant leader has a great sense of duty and responsibility (Rom 1:14). He is willing to make himself vulnerable and accountable. He is a careful listener and communicator of his values to his followers. The servant leader is humble recognizing both his strengths and weaknesses in himself and his followers. He is willing to share power, responsibilities, acclaim, and attention with others.
