Who is Jesus Christ for you?

Why did Jesus Christ die? 

• He died for you! 
• He died to appease the wrath of God 
• He died to reveal the love of God 
• He died to reconcile you to God 
• He died for you and offers you eternal life freely 
• He died to show Christians how to live sacrificially 

 He must be both Savior and Lord 

• To be your Lord, He must also be your Savior!  
• To be your Savior, He must also be your Lord!  

– We must surrender our lives to Him through repentance and faith. 

Who is Jesus Christ for you ? 

•  Have you embraced the Salvation that He freely offers you by repenting and believing in Him?
•  In His Incarnation, He united Himself with your humanity 
•  In His Life, He obeyed God perfectly and taught the truth you need to live
•  In His Death, He atoned for your sins
•  In His Resurrection, He provided life for you
•  Will you be ready for His Judgment?
•  Will He be your Judge (condemner) or Justifier (declarer of righteousness)?

Six key councils

Jesus Christ is God-Man. He is one person with two natures in union. He has two wills, two energies/operations.

Affirmations of the six key councils are:

1. Nicea, 325, affirmed Jesus is God. 

2. Constantinople, 381, affirmed Jesus is Man.

3. Ephesus, 431, affirmed Jesus Christ is one person. 

4. Chalcedon, 451, affirmed Jesus Christ has two natures. 

5. Constantinople II, 553, affirmed the union of the two natures. 

6. Constantinople III, 680, affirmed that Christ’s two natures meant He has two wills, and two energies/operations.
